Vizio issues we see most often in Chicago

Some failures are common across all TV brands; others are specific to Vizio. Here are the ones our techs handle weekly:

• Backlight LED strip failure. The most common Vizio failure, especially on the M-series and V-series after 3–5 years. Repairable in-home; we swap the strip on-site.
• Won’t turn on / power light on but no picture. Almost always the power board. Vizio uses a few power-supply variants we’ve seen many times.
• SmartCast freezing or apps not loading. Sometimes a main board issue, sometimes a firmware state. We try a factory reset / WiFi reflash before recommending a board swap.
• Half the screen dark / vertical band. One side of the backlight has failed. Common on M-series Quantum and V-series after 2–4 years.
• Black screen with sound. Audio plays but no picture. Usually T-Con or backlight failure on Vizios. Both repairable.
• HDMI ports not negotiating with cable boxes / consoles. Vizio HDMI handshake issues are common when the input panel fails. Board-level repair.
• Audio dropouts on the eARC / soundbar chain. Often a HDMI-CEC / eARC issue rather than a hardware failure. We diagnose the chain end-to-end.
• Random shutdowns or restart loops. Backlight protection trip, or capacitor failure on the power supply. Both repairable.
