Samsung issues we see most often in Chicago
Some failures are nearly universal across the lineup; others are specific to a particular Samsung family. Here are the ones our techs handle weekly:
- Won’t turn on, clicking, or red light blinking. Almost always the power board or a single capacitor on it. Samsung BN44-series boards are common across many models — we’ve seen most of them, though the specific variant for your set may need to be ordered. See our won't-turn-on repair page for what to expect.
- Black screen with sound. The set is on, you hear audio, but no picture. On Samsung this usually points to T-Con board failure or backlight LED strip failure. Both are repairable in-home.
- Half the screen darker (vertical band). A failed LED backlight strip on one side. Common on QLED 7-series and older Crystal UHDs after 3–5 years.
- One Connect Box not communicating. The Frame, QN90/QN95 series, and 8K Samsungs use a separate One Connect Box. The optical cable, the box itself, or the input port can fail. We diagnose the cable, the box, and the input port; replacement cables and parts are ordered as needed.
- Frame TV mounting/art-mode quirks. The Frame has its own quirks — art mode dimming, motion sensor false-triggers, frame-bezel connection issues. We service these.
- HDMI port not recognizing devices. A specific HDMI port stops working but others are fine. Usually a board-level repair on the input panel; we can sometimes repair just the port instead of swapping the whole main board.
- Vertical or horizontal lines on screen. Often T-Con or panel-cable seating; sometimes the panel itself. We diagnose and tell you up front whether the repair is worthwhile.
- Sudden shutdown / restart loop. Backlight protection circuit tripping, or a failing main board. Both very common; both repairable.

Why we don’t replace cracked Samsung screens
If the panel is physically cracked or has impact damage, replacement Samsung panels cost — almost without exception — more than buying a new TV of the same size. We’re honest about this on the phone. If you describe a crack, we’ll save you the service call and explain your options.
